Slurp It Up

Fishing TragedyI sit aroundFishing Tragedy
Feet dangling off the dock Wondering if the splinters can go through my jeans
And clutch my red rod With almost invisible line that shifts in the wind Where in the water fishes swim lazily
The water is clear enough That I can see a long worm pierced three times Wriggling around in confusion on my silver hook
The fishes swim one at a time to the worm And gulp it in until they notice the hook And just as quickly spit it out and swim away irritated and offended
So finally a small one opens wide and snaps down stupidly into my
